A night of elegance, empowerment, and networking awaited attendees at the highly anticipated Gala for OWIT Lake Geneva, and it did not disappoint. Stepping into a world of inspiration, influential speakers, industry experts, and like-minded professionals converged to celebrate two decades of existence for OWIT Lake Geneva. The event proved to be an extraordinary occasion where opportunities bloomed and dreams took flight, leaving an indelible mark on all who attended.

With a legacy spanning two decades, OWIT Lake Geneva had much to celebrate. The gala served as a testament to the organization's enduring commitment to empowering professionals, particularly women, in the international trade arena. The event attracted multiple generations of remarkable women, bridging the past and present of OWIT's journey.

The gala not only celebrated the present but also revisited the past. Attendees were treated to a walk down memory lane as the event replayed moments from the organization's earlier years, back when it was known as GWIT. It was a touching reminder of the progress made and the transformative power of time. Sharing experiences and relationships that had been nurtured over the years, the gala was a tribute to the bonds that had stood the test of time.

The celebration wasn't just a gathering of women; it was an event that embraced inclusivity in its truest sense. While the focus was on empowering and inspirational women, the presence of men added depth to the occasion. From the charismatic master of ceremonies, Benoit Thepot, to engaging presenter John Zimmer, the participation of men underscored the importance of collective efforts in achieving gender parity.

The gala was a symphony of inspiration, empowerment, and entertainment. The attendees were not only captivated by the wisdom shared by influential speakers but were also swept off their feet by the rhythmic beats on the dance floor, thanks to the talented DJ BMK who kept the music flowing. The event resonated with laughter, energy, and camaraderie as participants from diverse backgrounds connected, exchanged ideas, and built new relationships.

As the night unfolded, it became clear that this was more than just a gala; it was an evening of empowerment. The stories shared, the connections made, and the collective energy in the room painted a picture of empowerment in its truest form. Attendees left the event with a renewed sense of purpose, armed with new insights and connections to fuel their professional journeys.

The OWIT Lake Geneva Gala celebrating 20 years was a resounding success, bringing together the past and present to craft a future that embraces diversity, innovation, and global connections. The event was a testament to the organization's mission, and it illuminated the path forward for all attendees.

In the end, the gala was more than just an event; it was a living embodiment of OWIT Lake Geneva's values and aspirations. An inspiring and empowering night of endless laughter coupled with dancing served as a reminder of the transformative power of coming together with a shared purpose. Indeed, the 20th-anniversary Gala was a truly remarkable milestone in the history of OWIT Lake Geneva, and its impact will continue to resonate for years to come.

We started 2016 with an event on Women and Salary Negotiations. The lesson learned is to negotiate when you are starting a job with a new employer.

What if you are already in a company and interested to understand how your pay compares with others? Let's see how to be sure your contribution to the company and your work for it is fully recognized and reflected in you salary.

The principle of equal pay for women and men is enshrined in the Federal Constitution and in the Gender Equality Act. Men and women should be equally remunerated for equal and equivalent work. And yet there are still great differences in pay in Switzerland. On average, women earn 15% less than men (2014). Part of this gap is due to non-explained factors.

Women in managerial positions even earn up to 22% less than men. In 2014, women in these positions earned an average gross salary of 8,221 francs while men in the same position earned 10,553 francs.

As an employee, you need to know if you are paid fairly. Two tools allow you to check that:

If you are an employer, you might want to understand if you treat your employees equally, whether men or women. Logib is the equal pay self-test tool that will help you achieve gender equality for the benefit of your company:

Some food for thought from Harvard Business Review about the need for women to have more flexibility and greater understanding of cultural norms as they work across a multi national environment.

It serves to provoke reflection rather than offer solutions to the challenge and provides some insight on how expectations of women in business vary across cultures
